Why Has Apple Been Hiding the Bitcoin Whitepaper on Every MacBook?

Well, this is an odd but fun story. It turns out that since 2018 (macOS from Mojave (10.14.0) onwards), a complete copy of Satoshi Nakamoto’s whitepaper “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.”Why? No one really knows.

Is it there after an order from the top dogs, or is a mischievous employee having a joke? This is the question currently being asked by the Bitcoin community after independent blogger Andy Baio revealed it.

I found it on mine...

Not much is known about it apart from its existence (yes, it is real!) and the fact that it was internally reported a year ago to the same engineer that put it there in the first place, who has subsequently done nothing about it.Is it important in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. Is it a fun little story?Yes, I think it is!

Playtime Is Almost over for SBF

Avid gamer, tweeter, and general digital disgrace Sam Brainscan-Greed will soon have to hand over every device with which he can contact the outside world.

They will be replaced with a phone that can’t access the internet and a heavily monitored laptop that has been customized to only allow access to certain websites. Approved sites include his lawyers’, Uber Eats, and Spotify. Basically, with these new bail conditions, he’s being digitally transported back 20 years!

Currently under house arrest at his parents’ California home, SBF is one of the planet's most monitored people.Prosecutors sought tighter bail conditions after he contacted a potential witness in his criminal case using an encrypted messaging app and used a virtual private network to access the internet.Naughty boy!

Dubious Study Suggests Most People Didn’t Pay Their Crypto Taxes

Firstly, I should preface this section by stating the obvious. Not paying your taxes can land you a heavy fine and serious jail time.

That said, let's check this one out.Yesterday, crypto tax company Divly released its “Global Cryptocurrency Taxation Report 2022.” It contained some shocking statistics. The research analyzed the percentage of cryptocurrency investors who declared their assets to their local tax authorities in 2022.“We estimate that globally just 0.53% of cryptocurrency investors declared their cryptocurrency activity to their local tax authorities in 2022.”

However, upon delving a little deeper, we found their methods to be questionable at best.In short, they extrapolated from Google search data (which is unreliable itself) for terms containing reference to crypto tax. These results should be taken with a heart-attack-inducing-sized pinch of salt. So, what is the point of this section?Don’t forget to pay your crypto tax!
