Golden Cross, Death Cross…What’s the Deal?

There have been a lot of talks recently of Daily Golden Crosses and Weekly Death Crosses, but why? 

I mean, they sound cool, but are they really that big a deal?

For starters, I have to be a responsible adult and give the usual “not financial advice” caveat.Right, now that’s done…let’s get into it.The main reason you’ve been seeing a lot of punchy headlines about them is just that…they make great click-inducing headlines.However, for clarity and education purposes, let’s have a little discussion about golden and death crosses. *puts teacher hat on*.

Daily Golden Cross: These occur on the charts when the 50-day simple moving average (SMA), crosses above the 200-day SMA. Essentially showing that the average price over the last 50 days becomes higher than the average price over the last 200 days.

Weekly Death Cross:

In contrast to Golden Crosses, these show when the average price over the last 50 weeks drops below the average price over the last 200 weeks. The 50-week SMA crosses below the 200-week SMA.

Ok, but what’s a moving average?

Clear? Just kidding…

Simple Moving Average: An SMA is a smoothed-out line that shows the average price over a given time period, In this case, 50 and 200 days and 50 and 200 weeks, respectively.

It is very important to note here, that moving averages are lagging indicators…they show you what has already happened…they DO NOT predict the future!

At best, they show the direction of the trend prior to the cross occurring. In fact, in many cases, there has been a short-term price dump after a golden cross and a short-term pump after death crosses.

“Ok, we’ve got you now, but why are they in the news all of a sudden?”

Well, my beauties, the answer is they’ve never happened at the same time before. In fact, there has never been a Bitcoin weekly death cross before.

Remember, the SMAs are lagging indicators, so the death cross is telling you that the average price over the last year (approx) is less than the average price over the last 4 years (approx). 

In the last 200 weeks, Bitcoin has experienced a steep bull market and two all-time highs. In the last 50 weeks, however, Bitcoin has been plummeting to Hadean-level lows! 

With this information in mind, a weekly death cross makes total sense and really isn’t that shocking!

What’s my take on the golden/death cross conundrum?

We could see a continued pump or a dump or nothing…basically, no one knows, and if you tell them they do, they’re no better than people who think they can talk to the dead!

…and you thought I was going to give a prediction… haha, no chance!

AI-Based Cryptos Outperforming Everything…is this the Rise of the Machines?

AI-based tokens seem to be the darlings of the moment as on average they are up around 80% in just the last week.Singularity Net (AGIX), for example, is up 243% in the last 7 days!Wowzers!

What is AI anyway?

Artificial-Intelligence refers to the programming of machines to simulate human intelligence. We have already seen this in image generation software, self-driving cars, and chatbots for example. 

What the future holds for AI is limited only by your imagination.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, in a cave, or on Mars, you will have heard of ChatGPT. Launched by OpenAI in 2022, conversations about the chatbot have dominated forums, YouTube, and “the socials”.  

OpenAI recently raised $10 billion from Microsoft and has a $29 Billion valuation.That's a lot of money floating about for AI. Whilst companies like OpenAI have no link to crypto, with such huge interest and valuations, one could extrapolate that the AI crypto markets could be next.

Hence the pumps!

Thankfully (or sadly, depending on your point of view), this is not due to a Skynet-like rogue AI system planning on eradicating humans from the planet.

…or is it?

So, SBF and his band of goons lost all the FTX money but managed to find $250 million to get himself bailed out of the lock-up. 

Hmm, suspicious.

It is openly known that mummy and daddy signed the bail bond but there were two other, hitherto unknown people who also co-signed it. 

This was not acceptable to many media outlets, who decided to file suit, stating “the public’s interest in this matter cannot be overstated.”

U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, like totally agreed, dude!These mysterious Scooby-Doo-Esq money providers should hide in the shadows no more!

However, SBF must have felt a chill up his spine because he appealed the decision to make the names known.

Hmm…what’s he hiding now!!
